65 of 65 people found the following review helpful Might as Well Stick Your Laptop in a Freezer, November 2, 2010 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal Ergostand Notebook Cooler R9-NBS-4UAK (Personal Computers) I have an Asus G60. Cooling pads work radically differently with different types of laptops, so keep that in mind as you read.
Pros:
Functionality: 10/10. Cools great and is relatively quiet, barely louder than my laptop itself on full power. On its own, the monster gpu (GTS 360M) on my laptop pours out the heat from the side during load. I've literally melted crayons that have sat next to it. It also gets pretty hot on the keyboard on that side. With the massive fan on this cooler, the heat coming out the side is much reduced and the keyboard is much cooler, not to mention the heat is expelled farther from whatever surface or lap the laptop is on. I haven't done benchmarking, but I would guess a good 10-15C difference in the core based on what it puts out. I don't know which other laptops blow heat out the bottom or side but this pad blows up into the laptop, so that's something to keep in mind.
Controls/ports are very helpful. 8/10. I need a lot of... Read more
35 of 36 people found the following review helpful Who needs a docking station?, June 19, 2010 By Jeremy Frank "Jeremy" (Port Washington, NY USA) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal Ergostand Notebook Cooler R9-NBS-4UAK (Personal Computers) I used to have a Dell laptop and a full docking station to go with it. The crappy old Dell would get hot, but that dock was convenient. When I upgraded to an Acer, I learned that there really weren't any docking stations made for it, so I settled on a cooling stand (because my last laptop kept overheating) with some USB ports. I am very happy with this purchase. The fan works well, you can even feel it on your arms if you leave them at the sides of the computer. The 4 USB ports need to get attached to a powered port, but that's not a big problem. Interestingly, they didn't seem to mention that there is an AC port for the fan, but it doesn't come with a plug. The charger for my Sony PSP fits like a glove. The cable hooks on the back really come in handy for reducing clutter.
30 of 32 people found the following review helpful Viewing angles and extra USB ports are Excellent, May 13, 2010 This review is from: Cooler Master NotePal Ergostand Notebook Cooler R9-NBS-4UAK (Personal Computers) My cooler just arrived a few days ago and already love the extra features. My 17" Dell gets really heated when I'm running a lot of applications, but the fan speed control helps keep my laptop cool. I need to place my hand under my laptop sometimes, just to make sure its running, but the fans are real silent. The adjustable angles helps my neck from straining, since my chair is higher than normal. The 4 extra USB ports are real handy for all my peripherals and act like a hub, so I don't need to unplug all the cords everytime I take my laptop home.
